Time: Saturday, Oct 12th, 2024

Location: TBD

Platform: CodeForces

From Fall 2024, UCRPC (graduate and undergraduate divisions) will be fully in person. Participants must join the contest in person to win awards and prizes.

Pre-college participants can still join remotely, but the prizes are only provided to on-site participants.

  • 1-2 weeks before the contest, we will have a practice contest to help the participants to get used to the website interface.

  • You have to stay until the closing remarks (5:30 - 6:30 pm) to get the prizes. Dinner will be provided.

Contest Rules:

  • Participants need to solve 8-14 programming problems with clearly defined input/output with example input/output instances.

  • You need to use your own laptops. Both team members can use their own laptops.

  • The participants may take paper-based notes, or use the Internet during the contest to read relevant materials to get inspirations. It is not allowed to copy any code from the Internet, or communicate with anyone online or offline about the contest problems (other than UCRPC staffs).

  • Discussions between the teammates are allowed. Both team members can submit solutions. For a specific problem, the score for the team is the highest score from either team member.

  • You can submit your code at any time, and get the score in several minutes. You can submit an unlimited number of times.

  • Each problem has a set of test cases and a runtime limit. Passing each test case (getting correct answer within the time limit) will earn you a certain percentage of the points of the corresponding problem.

  • You may use any languages supported by CodeForces, including C++, C#, Java, Python, etc. The language supported is available here.

  • You can use the standard library for each language.

  • A problem’s runtime limit is automatically adjusted (see CodeForces Time Scaling). For example, the time limit for Python is 6x for that of C++. However, based on the usual performance of each language, using C++ is highly recommended.

  • In the first four hours of the contest, you can see live scoreboard. In the last 30 minute, the board will be frozen. The results and award winners will be announced at the award ceremony.
